if u read the papers, one will realise tt they report more cases of maid abuse rather than of employers treating their maid well. not surprising though, considering bad news attract more readership...
but honestly i dun noe .i will like to believe that such maid exploitation thing is not prevalent in our homeland

i understand and agree with ya point that the employer must exihibit some control over the maid's freedom but wat i was touching on was treating them like a slave

i was expecting tt recieving my handphone bill this month will be a traumatising experience for me.Simply because , i have been sending a lot of sms and making phone calls that comes with the job of being a sec com.(having to make calls to officers and men alike and using sms to pass down info)which isn't a nice job.well one example of the downside of being a spec is that compared to a man who take one confinement for a mistake he make, a spec have to take 2 or 3 for the same mistake.
but somehow or rather, my hp bill amounted to only 28.18
which i'm happy to annouce is a record low
i dun remember my bill being anything less than $40, for , god knows, how many mnths liaoz
when i came home from town juz now, i saw this family with thier maid.Well, the maid was carryin all the stuff they bought,which was quite a lot.i mean, both her hands were realli full , .a plastic bag of stuff muz have been hooked to every single finger.
and i looked at her employer, this healthy mother who was walking beside her, carrying nothing.NOTHING AT ALL...
ok to be fair, those stuff the maid carried do not look heavy at all.but wat the heck, i thought perhaps that the lady could have helped her maid in carrying at least one or two bags.
So ppl think that when u have the money to hire maids,u have every right to work her as hard as u think she should, simply becoz u r paying her.
i have seen maids whose onli place she is allowed to roam , is the kitchen,even when she has nothing to do.i have seen a maid who are hired to help this family, yet during weekend when the employer has nothing for the maid, "lend" the maid to her relatives to help the latter iron clothes, clean house etc..WITHOUT getting extra pay...
without a doubt, there sure are ppl who will scream and yell orders at thier maids instead of telling them nicely
oh come on, maids are there to help you, not to be a slave for you.
yes u pay them, but they are no less human than u..
when they work hard for you, wat u can do is to reward them with a off day once a week or at the very least, show them the proper respect they deserve
surely giving them some rest or respect isn't that hard...
sometimes , i think we singaporeans are too complacent about our nation's security.
given the way some of them think tt exercise northern star is a hassle and complaining about the inconvenience it cause them , i realli wonder how Singapore will fare when terrorists strike at Singapore.
DEspite the government's efforts to raise awareness about terror threat, i doubt the majority of Singaporeans realli understand or pay any heed to it.Singaporeans, are probably more concerned about getting employment, pursueing dreams of getting rich rather than bother about a terror threat
One person interviwed in the news mentioned that he believe that Singapore will not be attacked by terrorists because our security is just too good.
if everybody thinks as he does, we are dead
yet, can we blame ourselves for feeling like this?
we are a nation whose majority of her population comprised of ppl cuming from generations that have not gone through war and hardship
so do we realli understand that threat?
and i wonder, when it realli cums down to a terror attack on singapore, are the people able to rise to the occasion?

and i went to this SATA clinic to take xray also, coz the chinese sinseh says something wrong with my backbone and advise me to takke an xray let him c
xray are expensive stuff
but when i went into the clinic, i was filled with hope that i could use my 11b to get free xray
but no such thing, then i notice this "poster" or "creed" or "motto" of SATA
tt it is a non-profit volunteer organisation tt aims to provide affordable medical care to everybody

woke up with a sore throat and a cough
reach tanah merah ltr than usual becoz sch reopen

to make it worse, shuttle buses were late , also becoz of sch days

in the end, have to share cab with stanley siva and zeming
during sports and games, i fell and injured my left leg during bball
at least onli abrasions and feel my thigh muscle abit tight so i thought it's ok
then during duty, i discover i coudn't hardly stand at main gantry for 3 hrs
when resting, cfm my fear that my the area above my knee was swollen
so i do duty with the damn pain in my leg
finally report sick once i dismount the next day
onli to wait for 3 hrs to c the mo
stupid mo, like all western doc, onli noe to advocate rest(3days mc) and give pain killers
which also means my platoon will be running even more understrengthed
or worse, someone from platoon 3 have to be activated back to help out
which makes mi feeling all guilty and stupid indeed
so i bk out go c chinese sinseh, who was awesome
i could actually feel i could bend my knee with less pain
but he give mi more bad news
tt the reason behind the numbness and pain in my left leg and back could be due to my backbone "slanted slightly"
so now , i have to take x-ray for him to see
which means i have to make a trip to polyclinic(a long wait) or i go pte clinic( a major blow to my finances)
ok look on the bright side, i get to rest 3 days at home
but let the bad luck end today pls
